2,3'-Anhydro-5'-O-tert-butyldiphenylsilylthymidine is a nucleoside analog that is synthesized by reacting 5'-O-tert-butyldiphenylsilylthymidine with anhydrous hydrazine. It is used as a precursor to 2,3'-dideoxyinosine and 2,3'-dideoxycytidine. This compound has antiviral activity against DNA viruses such as herpes simplex and vaccinia virus and anticancer activity against rodent tumors. It has been shown to be active against the induction of rat mammary carcinomas by 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene.
