Description:5-Amino-2’-deoxy-2’-O-methyluridine HCl is a novel nucleoside analog that has been modified with an O-methyl group at the 5′ position of the ribose moiety. This modification inhibits phosphorylation by inhibiting DNA polymerase and thus, preventing DNA synthesis. 5-Amino-2’-deoxy-2’-O-methyluridine HCl has also been shown to inhibit viral replication by inhibiting viral RNA and protein synthesis, while not affecting human RNA and protein synthesis. 5AADMUT is an activator of diphosphate metabolism in cells which may be due to its ability to inhibit enzymes involved in nucleotide metabolism (e.g., adenosine kinase).
