Trans-abacavir is a synthetic nucleoside analog that is an antiviral, anti-HIV drug. It is phosphorylated to the triphosphate form, which inhibits viral reverse transcriptase and DNA polymerase. Trans-abacavir can be used in combination with other antiviral drugs for the treatment of HIV infection. Trans-abacavir is a modified nucleoside with antiviral activity against HIV and cytotoxic activity against cancer cells. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of leukemia cells and breast cancer cells.
