It is expressed in bacteria and has been shown to have optical properties that are stereoselective at low temperatures. Tetrabutylammonium Dichlorobromide can be used as an additive to polycarboxylic acids to produce polyesters with chlorine-containing residues in the range of diameter 1-2 nm. This product is also used as a solvent for organic compounds and has a boiling point of around 100°C.
