Product Information
- 2-(2-Pyridinyl)-1H-Indole
2-Pyridylindole is a synthetic compound that exhibits fluorescence properties. It reacts with hydrogen chloride in the presence of hydrochloric acid to form 2-pyridyl-N,N'-dichloroindole (2PDI). This reaction can be used to detect hydrogen chloride in the environment. The fluorescence properties of 2PDI are sensitive to changes in concentration and show a linear relationship with hydrogen chloride concentrations between 100 and 400 ppm. 2PDI has also been studied for its clinical use as a gas sensor.
