2-Aminoindan-1-ol is an enantiomer of 2-aminoindane. It is a chiral, yields, lactams, antagonist, stereoselective, reacts efficiently with the most reactive electrophiles and has been shown to be an efficient method for generating β-unsaturated and bicyclic alcohols. The chemical reactions of 2-aminoindan-1-ol are thought to involve the formation of an intermediate carbocation that undergoes nucleophilic attack by the electrophile. 2-Aminoindan-1-ol has been shown to inhibit dopaminergic activity in vitro and in vivo.
