Desmedipham is used in analytical methods as a polyvinyl polymer that reacts with metal hydroxides to form polyvinyl complexes. These polyvinyl complexes have been used in studies on toxicity and sample preparation for herbicides. Desmedipham has been shown to have synergistic effects with other herbicides, such as vernolate, which prevents the development of resistant mutants in plants.
