Praseodymium fluoride, anhydrous (PrF3) is a chemical that belongs to the lanthanide series of rare earth elements. It is a divalent hydrocarbon that has strong optical properties and can be used in optical systems. PrF3 emits light when exposed to high-energy radiation, such as ultraviolet rays or x-rays. When dissolved in hydrochloric acid, it will produce hydrofluoric acid and praseodymium ions. In addition, it is soluble in organic acids and can be used in the detection of metals by fluorination.
