Product Information
Securitinine is a bioactive indole alkaloid that has been isolated from the leaves of Securidaca longepedunculata. The chemical structure of securitinine is similar to that of phyllanthine, which is a natural product and an alkaloid. It can be synthesized in the laboratory by reacting 3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside with methylamine. Securitinine has been shown to have stereoselective activity, as well as being genetically related to the phyllanthines. The nitrogen atom in securitinine is not present in phyllanthine, but it does share the alkylation at the amide group. This molecule's nmr spectra are also different from those of phyllanthines.
