Copper(II) dibutyldithiocarbamate is a coordination complex that is soluble in organic solvents and reacts with metals, including copper, zinc, nickel, and cobalt. It is used as a catalyst for the production of acrylic acid from acrylonitrile. The compound can be produced by introducing an inorganic acid to an aliphatic hydrocarbon and heating it at constant temperature. Copper(II) dibutyldithiocarbamate is also an acid catalyst that can be used to catalyze the dehydration of alcohols.
