N6-Benzoyladenosine inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting the catalytic subunit of guanine nucleotide-binding proteins, which are involved in cellular energy production. It also inhibits camp levels and camp concentrations in mitochondria, which may be due to its effects on the trimethylbenzodiazepine receptor.
