5'-O-Benzoyl-2',3'-dideoxy-3'-fluorouridine is a novel nucleoside that is synthesized from ribonucleosides. It is an inhibitor of the RNA polymerase enzyme, which prevents the transcription and replication of DNA. 5'-O-Benzoyl-2',3'-dideoxy-3'-fluorouridine also inhibits viral DNA synthesis by preventing viral RNA from being translated into DNA. This product has been shown to be active against a wide range of viruses, including influenza A virus, herpes simplex virus type 1, and vaccinia virus.
