Description:5'-O-Benzoyl-D3-thymidine is a nucleoside that is structurally related to thymidine. It can be synthesized by reacting 5'-O-benzoyl-D3-cytosine with thymidine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (CMP) and sodium bicarbonate in the presence of riboflavin as an oxidant. The synthesis of 5'-O-benzoyl-D3-thymidine has been shown to be an effective antiviral agent against herpes simplex virus type 1, which has been modified with phenylboronic acid. The anticancer activity of 5'-O-benzoyl-D3-thymidine has also been explored, showing that it inhibits the growth of tumors in mice.
