N-Benzoyl-2'-deoxy-2',2'-difluorocytidine is a novel nucleoside analog with potent antiviral and anticancer activity. It is an activator of the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase and inhibits DNA synthesis. N-Benzoyl-2'-deoxy-2',2'-difluorocytidine has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) replication in vitro, as well as the growth of human tumor cells in vivo.
