Biotin-11-uridine-5'-triphosphate, lithium salt (BUP) is a nucleoside analog that has been modified to allow the incorporation of BUP into DNA. The modification of BUP with lithium salts allows for the covalent attachment of BUP to DNA. This incorporation of BUP into DNA prevents the polymerase from binding to DNA and thus inhibits replication. Biotin-11-uridine-5'-triphosphate, lithium salt (BUP) has demonstrated anticancer and antiviral activity as well as being novel and high quality.
