3'-O-tert-Butyldiphenylsilyl-2'-O-methyluridine is a novel nucleoside with antiviral and anticancer properties. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of human tumor cells in culture and induce apoptosis, as well as inhibit viral replication. 3'-O-tert-Butyldiphenylsilyl-2'-O-methyluridine is an analogue of uridine, which can be used for the synthesis of DNA or RNA. The phosphate group is attached to the 3' carbon on the sugar moiety. This nucleoside has been modified from a natural ribonucleoside by substitution of a tertiary butylphenylsilyl group at the 2' position with an o-methyl group.
