Description:
Burchellin is an inhibitor of tyrosinase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the first step of melanin production. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of a number of cell types and induce apoptotic cell death. Burchellin has been found to possess potent cytotoxic activity in various human cancer cell lines, including breast, colon, prostate, and lung. The potency was found to be dose-dependent and the effect was reversible with no evidence of cell lysis or necrosis.
