Product Information
8-Oxogeraniol is a synthetic molecule that belongs to the group of monoterpenoid indole alkaloids. It is a naturally occurring chemical compound that has been found in plants such as "Vinca rosea" and "Catharanthus roseus". 8-Oxogeraniol is a structural analogue of vinblastine, which inhibits the growth of tumor cells by blocking cell division at the G2/M phase. The biosynthesis of 8-oxogeraniol starts with the conversion of tryptophan to indole by tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase (TrpRS). This enzyme is expressed in various tissues, including brain, heart, kidney and liver. 8-Oxogeraniol catalyses the conversion of tryptophan to indole by TrpRS and its level can be used as an indicator for plant physiology.
