Product Information

Name:
Ethyl 2-cyclobutylacetate
Description:

Ethyl 2-cyclobutylacetate is a ligand that binds to the α2δ subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels. It inhibits the function of this protein, which is necessary for the conduction of electrical impulses in neurons. Ethyl 2-cyclobutylacetate has been shown to be effective in blocking the activity of both nicotinic and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, but with different affinities. This compound also has affinity for other c1-c6 alkyl groups and can act as a partial agonist at these sites. Ethyl 2-cyclobutylacetate is expressed in rabbit brain tissue and has been shown to bind to calcium channels in the cerebellum. The affinity of this ligand is mediated by hydrogen atoms on propyl side chains on its methyl group.
