Product Information
3,4,4',7-Tetrahydroxyflavan (3,4,4',7-THF) is a natural product that has been found in the Brucea javanica and Coleosperma species. It is believed to be involved in the plant's defense against various organisms. 3,4,4',7-THF inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes that maintain bacterial cell viability. This prevents transcription and replication of the bacterial DNA. 3,4,4',7-THF also inhibits the production of leucoanthocyanidins in plants by inhibiting an enzyme called anthocyanidin synthase.
