- Uridine, 2'-Chloro-2'-Deoxy-
- 1-(2-chloro-2-deoxypentofuranosyl)pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione
- 2'-Deoxy-2'-Chlorouridine
2'-Chloro-2'-deoxyuridine is an inorganic molecule that is used to treat herpes simplex virus. It is a substrate analogue of the nucleic acid adenosylcobalamin, which leads to bond cleavage and alkylation. For this reason, 2'-chloro-2'-deoxyuridine has the potential to be an effective antiviral drug against herpes simplex virus. The antiviral activity of 2'-chloro-2'-deoxyuridine was shown in model studies with adenosylcobalamin as a substrate analogue.
