Clevudine-d4 is a monophosphate nucleoside that is used as an antiviral agent in the treatment of HIV. Clevudine-d4 is a synthetic nucleoside analogue, which inhibits HIV multiplication by binding to the viral reverse transcriptase enzyme and preventing its activity. This drug also has anticancer properties, inhibiting DNA synthesis and cell division. Clevudine-d4 is synthesized from deoxyribonucleosides by phosphoramidites or modified nucleotides. It can be used for the synthesis of ribonucleosides and deoxyribonucleosides.
