Description:2-Morpholinoethyl isothiocyanate is a synthetic chemopreventive agent that has been shown to be an antioxidant and to induce apoptosis of cancer cells in vitro. It inhibits the growth of liver cancer cells by inhibiting the transcription of oncogenes, such as c-myc and c-jun, and also by inhibiting the activity of other enzymes, such as glutathione S-transferase. 2-Morpholinoethyl isothiocyanate also induces apoptosis in fibroblasts by activating transcription factors, such as NF-κB, which regulate the expression of proapoptotic genes.
