- 2′,3′-Dideoxy-3′-fluorocytidine
2',3'-Dideoxy-3'-fluorocytidine is a synthetic nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis by blocking the incorporation of deoxycytidine into DNA. It is used to treat lymphocytic leukemia, hepatitis, and virus infections. 2',3'-Dideoxy-3'-fluorocytidine has been shown to inhibit cell growth in solid tumours. The drug has also been shown to inhibit the production of immunodeficiency viruses such as human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and human T-lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I), which causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). 2',3'-Dideoxy-3'-fluorocytidine inhibits viral replication by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme deaminase, which converts dATP to dTTP. This prevents DNA replication and transcription.
