Description:

2',3'-Dideoxy-3'-fluoro-a-uridine is a nucleoside analog that is selectively used to vaccinate against tuberculosis. It has been shown to induce an immune response in mice and rabbits. The truncation of the molecule outputs 2',3' dideoxy-3' fluoro-a-uridine, which inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other mycobacterial strains. The sequence of this compound is important because it contains a mutation that prevents the synthesis of the amino acid histidine, which is important for protein synthesis. This genetic change makes this compound effective against mycobacterial strains that are resistant to first line drugs.
