Product Information
- 1-(2-Deoxy-2-fluoro-b-L-ribofuranosyl) uracil
2'-Deoxy-2'-fluoro-L-uridine is a nucleoside that is structurally similar to uridine. It has been shown to inhibit the replication of wild-type viruses and resistant mutants, such as vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) and influenza virus. 2'-Deoxy-2'-fluoro-L-uridine binds to the viral dsDNA and inhibits replication by forming stable duplexes with complementary strands in the presence of an enzyme called uracil glycosylase. This inhibition leads to the production of only single stranded DNA molecules, which renders the virus inactive. The hydroxyl group on 2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-L-uridine can be used for covalent bonding with a carbohydrate molecule, forming a glycosidic bond. Sodium carbonate can be used as a base catalyst in this process, which releases CO2 gas and leaves a carbonyl group on 2'-
