2,6-Dichloro-9-(2',3',5'-tri-O-acetyl-b-D-ribofuranosyl)purine is a substance that inhibits nucleoside phosphorylase and is used as an antitumour agent. 2,6-Dichloro-9-(2',3',5'-tri-O-acetyl-b-D)-ribofuranosyl)purine has been shown to have a high efficiency in inhibiting the growth of tumour cells. It was also found to be effective against cancer cells resistant to other anticancer drugs. This compound is an analog of uridine that can be converted into uridine monophosphate (UMP) by purine nucleoside phosphorylase. Purine nucleoside phosphorylase catalyzes the conversion of ATP and UMP into ADP and AMP, respectively. 2,6-Dichloro-9-(
