• Description: 3'-Deoxycytidine is a nucleoside analog used to treat hepatitis. It is an inhibitor of the viral enzyme reverse transcriptase and prevents the synthesis of viral DNA by blocking the formation of low-energy hydrogen bonds between the 3'-hydroxyl group and the 5'-phosphate group of deoxyribonucleotide triphosphates. 3'-Deoxycytidine can be synthesized using solid-phase methods, and has been shown to inhibit human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in control experiments. This drug also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in experimental bladder inflammation models.
