Description:
2',5'-Dideoxyuridine is a pyrimidine nucleoside that inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting the incorporation of uridine into RNA. It has been shown to be cytotoxic to murine leukemia cells, and may also inhibit the biosynthesis of DNA. 2',5'-Dideoxyuridine is metabolized by hydrolysis to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in the liver and is converted to thymidine by deamination. The reactive 2',5'-dideoxyuridine derivatives have potential as inhibitors of DNA synthesis.
