1-(3',5'-Di-O-benzoyl-2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-b-D-arabinofuranosyl)thymine is a novel anticancer drug that belongs to the group of phosphoramidites. It is a phosphoramidate prodrug that is activated by deoxycytidine kinase and acts as an inhibitor of DNA, RNA and protein synthesis in cells. 1-(3',5'-Di-O-benzoyl-2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-b-D-arabinofuranosyl)thymine has been shown to activate in vitro human T cells and have antiviral effects against HIV. This drug also inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis, RNA synthesis, and protein synthesis.
