Description:

Decoyinine is a synthetic compound that was designed to inhibit the synthesis of fatty acids. It is a structural analogue of the natural amino acid, methionine. Decoyinine inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the synthetase enzyme and preventing the formation of fatty acids. Decoyinine has been shown to be effective against wild-type strains, but not resistant mutants in Bacillus subtilis. This antimicrobial agent has been shown to have regulatory effects on gene expression, as well as redox potential and pluripotent cells.
