Description:

2’-Deoxy-N1-methylguanosine is a nucleoside that is a synthetic analog of deoxyguanosine. It has been shown to be an activator of the polymerase chain reaction and an anticancer agent. 2’-Deoxy-N1-methylguanosine is phosphorylated by DNA polymerase to form 2’-deoxy-N1,N3-dimethylguanosine, which then undergoes further modifications to form the corresponding triphosphate. The methylation of the hydroxyl group on the 2' carbon atom in guanine prevents its conversion to xanthine or hypoxanthine, which are found in purines. This modification also inhibits the formation of adducts between guanines and other compounds, such as benzo[a]pyrene diol epoxide (BPDE).
