1-(2’-Deoxy-2’-fluoro-arabinofuranosyl)-5-hydroxymethyluracil is a nucleoside that is synthesized by the modified phosphoramidite method. It contains a 2′,5′-dideoxyribose or 2′,5′-dideoxyadenosine moiety and a 2′,5′-dideoxycytidine moiety. 1-(2’-Deoxy-2’-fluoro-arabinofuranosyl)-5-hydroxymethyluracil is an antiviral agent that has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of viral DNA and RNA. This compound can also be used as a prodrug for the anticancer drug 3’,3’'-Diiodo adenosine 5-[(1R,3S)]-.
