Description:2'- Deoxy- 1, 6- dihydro- 1- methyladenosine is a novel nucleoside activator. It is a modified form of adenosine and has shown anticancer activity in vivo. This compound also has antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) and human cytomegalovirus (CMV). The antiviral effect of this drug is due to its ability to penetrate the cell membrane and inhibit viral DNA synthesis by inhibiting deoxyribonucleoside triphosphate (dNTP) incorporation into the viral DNA strand.
