Minumicrolin is an acetate extract of the plant Murralongin, which has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity in cancer cells. It was also shown to inhibit the growth of a variety of viruses and bacteria, including human cervical carcinoma cells and Leishmania parasites. Minumicrolin inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines by inhibiting the lipopolysaccharide-induced expression of IL-8 and TNF-α. This anti-inflammatory effect may be due to its ability to inhibit angiogenesis by suppressing VEGF production in endothelial cells. Minumicrolin also has anti-angiogenic effects on tumor cells.
