Mogroside III-A2 is a natural sweetener that is extracted from the fruit of the "mogrosides" plant. It is a mixture of mogroside III and mogroside IV, which are both dihydrochalcones. Mogroside III-A2 is used as a pharmaceutical preparation for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type II. It has been shown to have similar effects to other natural sweeteners such as sucrose or fructose, but does not cause tooth decay or increase blood sugar levels. Mogroside III-A2 has also been shown to decrease reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cells, which may be due to its ability to react with metal ions such as iron, magnesium, and zinc.
