5'-Ethylcarboxamido-2-iodo-2',3'-O-isopropylideneadenosine is a phosphoramidite nucleoside that is synthesized by the reaction of 5'-ethoxycarbonyl-N,N-diisopropylaminomethylene adenosine with 2,3'-O-(1,1'-biphenyl)-2'-propionic acid ethyl ester. It is used as an antiviral agent and has shown anticancer activity. This novel synthetic nucleoside is structurally related to the natural nucleosides adenosine and inosine.
