5-Hydroxy-7,8-dimethoxyflavanone is a flavonoid that belongs to the group of isoflavonoids. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in macrophages. The effects may be due to the induction of cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and interleukin 10 (IL10). The compound also has an acetylation technique which can be used for peroxide and connectivity enhancement techniques. 5-Hydroxy-7,8-dimethoxyflavanone has shown inhibitory effects on TNFα production in isolated human monocytes. This activity may be attributed to its ability to inhibit cyclooxygenase activity.
