Ro 31-8220 mesylate is a potent inhibitor of platelet activation. It binds to the active site of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). Ro 31-8220 mesylate blocks the production of platelet-derived growth factor, which is involved in tumorigenesis and tissue growth. This drug also inhibits phosphorylation of the signal transducer and activator of transcription proteins, which are involved in cell proliferation. The inhibition of these kinases leads to an anti-inflammatory effect.
