Product Information

Name:
2-Benzenesulfonamido-5-chlorobenzoic acid
Description:

2-Benzenesulfonamido-5-chlorobenzoic acid is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). PTP1B is a negative regulator of insulin signaling and has been found to be associated with type 2 diabetes. This drug binds to the active site of PTP1B and prevents it from dephosphorylating tyrosine residues on the insulin receptor, which activates downstream signaling pathways that lead to glucose uptake.
2-Benzenesulfonamido-5-chlorobenzoic acid has been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo. It also inhibits tumor angiogenesis by blocking vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) signaling.
