It binds to the N6 position of adenosine in the DNA, which regulates gene expression and may be important for regulating cell proliferation. N6-Hydroxymethyladenosine has been shown to inhibit tumor growth, but does not have any effect on cancer stem cells. This drug also has antioxidant properties and can inhibit the inflammatory response induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS).
