This process leads to an increased level of hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radicals that induce cancer cell death by inhibiting DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. 2-Hydrazino-4-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine also inhibits the production of certain enzymes (such as cyclooxygenase), which are involved in the production of prostaglandins that promote tumor growth.
