5-Iodocytidine 5'-triphosphate sodium salt is a novel antiviral agent. It is the sodium salt of 5-iodocytidine 5'-triphosphate and is used to inhibit viral replication. It inhibits RNA synthesis by interfering with the incorporation of deoxyribonucleosides into the growing DNA chain, which blocks DNA synthesis. This inhibition prevents virus production and may be useful in treating cancer.
