Description:
5'-O-methylthymidine is an antiviral, monophosphate nucleoside that is structurally similar to thymidine and cytidine. 5'-O-methylthymidine has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. The mechanism by which 5'-O-methylthymidine inhibits the growth of cancer cells is not known but may be due to its ability to act as a diphosphate activator or a deoxyribonucleoside phosphoramidite.
