It inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA and RNA by competitive inhibition of viral DNA polymerases. N1-Methyl-2'-O-methyladenosine also inhibits the proliferation of tumor cells in vitro, which is mediated by its ability to inhibit the synthesis of cellular DNA. This drug has novel chemical structures with anticancer activity.
