It is also a methyltransferase inhibitor that blocks the synthesis of thyroxine by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for this process. This drug can be used to treat hypothyroidism in adults and children. Cyclohexyl 2,7,7-trimethyl-4-(4-nitrophenyl)-5-oxo-1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydroquinoline 3 carboxylic acid has been shown to induce pluripotent stem cells from mouse embryonic fibroblasts. These cells are then differentiated into different cell types such as neurons and pancreatic islet cells
