Description:4'-Thiothymidine is a nucleoside analog that is used in antiviral therapy against herpes simplex virus. It inhibits the viral DNA polymerase, which prevents the virus from duplicating its genetic material. 4'-Thiothymidine has been shown to inhibit the uptake of 4-thiouracil by cells and to have anti-inflammatory properties. The drug has been found to be effective in inhibiting human adenocarcinoma cell lines in vitro and in vivo.
