Description:

Wyosine is a glycosylated protein that is found in the mitochondria of eukaryotic cells. It has been shown to have an acidic pH and to be non-covalently bound to a molecule with a molecular weight of approximately 2,000 Da. Wyosine binds to the wild-type strain of the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which may play a role in its biological properties. This molecule also reacts with antibodies and can be used as an antigen for antibody production. Wyosine is structurally similar to x-ray crystal structures and has been observed by X-ray crystallography at atomic resolution.
