It has been shown to modulate the expression of proteins involved in apoptotic cell death, such as Bax and cytochrome C. M62812 also inhibits mitochondrial biogenesis and cellular ATP production, resulting in necrotic cell death. This agent has also been shown to have immunomodulatory effects on microglia cells in vitro by inhibiting Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). In addition, M62812 has been found to be effective in animal models of autoimmune diseases.
