• Description: Avermectin B1 is an anti-parasitic compound, which is an avermectin naturally derived from the fermentation of the soil-dwelling actinomycete, *Streptomyces avermitilis*. It works primarily through binding to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, leading to increased permeability to chloride ions. This causes hyperpolarization of the cell membrane, resulting in paralysis and death of the parasite.
